The Yellowstone prequel series has already been renewed for Season 2 - here's everything we know so far. 

The Yellowstone universe continues to grow to the delight of fans, and even before Yellowstone: 1923 Season 1 ended, Paramount Plus officially confirmed Season 2. 

The prequel series proved more than a little popular, breaking records after its debut. The premiere alone drew 7 Million viewers, making it the most-watched premiere on US cable last year. 

Starring Harrison Ford and Dame Helen Mirren, it's no wonder the series has proved so popular. 

1923 picks up after the events of the previous spin-off series, 1883, and explores the life of the Dutton family in the early 20th century. Historic droughts, pandemics, the end of Prohibition and the Great Depression are just a few of the problems that plague the family and the mountains of the West. 

But what could be in season 2 of 1923? And when can fans expect it to hit our screens? Read everything you need to know about the second installment of the Yellowstone prequel series.

Will there be a 1923 season 2?

Will definitely come! Dutton's origin story continues as Paramount Plus has confirmed that 1923 will return for Season 2. 
And no wonder, really. The series has broken records since its premiere, becoming one of the most-watched cable premieres in the United States in 2022, and also debuted to positive reviews. 

1923 Season 2 Release Date Speculations

Not much is known about the schedule for the second season at this time, but there is a positive sign that the second show has been confirmed before the end of the first season. 

However, we know this could be a very quick turnaround for the new series. Pre-production on the first season started in July 2022, and the first episode will air on Paramount Plus in December 2022. 

So if the schedules line up and we can expect the same production rate, we could consider getting pre-production and release date news throughout the year. 

We expect the first pre-production announcement for Season 2 to come sometime this year. 

1923 Season 2 Cast Speculations 

1923 certainly took us on a roller coaster ride with the characters of this prequel series. Not only was there a lot of family drama, but there were also many sudden deaths. So it's safe to say that the original 1923 cast might not make it to Season 2, as the Season 1 finale is sure to throw some unexpected twists. 

At this point, it's safe to assume that much of the main cast will likely return for Season 2 1923 stars:

As for the cast members, we know that definitely won't be returning, those will be the slew of characters who have died. Those include Catherine Walsh (Alexandra Grossi), Kagiso (Raymond Watanga), Bob Strafford (Tim DeKay), John Dutton Sr. (James Badge Dale), Sister Mary (Jennifer Ehle), Sister Alice (Kerry O'Malley), Baapuxti (Leenah Robinson), Emma Dutton (Marley Shelton), Captain Lucca (Peter Stormare) and Issaxche (Amelia Rico).

What could season 2 of 1923 be about?

 

Details of Season 2 are currently under wraps, and nothing is really known about the upcoming season, except that it will continue the Dutton family saga. 

Season 1 focuses on exploring the new generation of the Dutton family. According to the synopsis, "we explore the early 20th century as pandemics, a historic drought, the end of Prohibition, and the Great Depression plague the Mountain West and the Duttons who call it home." 
We can only assume that we will be back after the dramatic events of the Season 1 finale, "Nothing Left to Lose." Michelle Randolph, who plays Elizabeth "Liz" Strafford, teased in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter that she is "happy" about Season 2, insisting that "there are a lot of loose ends."
